Restoration

The WHYCHUS RESTORATION PROJECT

The Project has drawn huge local and regional interest, garnered tremendous media attention and has energized the community to take action to improve the conditions of Whychus Creek. Referring to Whychus, the Upper Deschutes Basin Model Watershed Program Work Plan states that " widespread, vigorous and sustained support from the community is critical to our ability to restore habitat conditions that can sustain populations of target species.”

The Deschutes National Forest Sisters Watershed Analysis strongly recommended that “community education and restoration projects are necessary to protect, restore and monitor riparian habitats.” Thanks to the Whychus Project, Wolftree has begun to implement these elements described in these plans. This means that recently reintroduced salmon and steelhead will come home to healthy habitats. -> GO2 National Forest Foundation Report
